Canad Inns Winter Wonderland (November 30, 2018 to January 5, 2019)
Located at the Red River Exhibition Park, this family-friendly event has something for everyone, with one of its biggest highlights being a Christmas light display featuring over 1 million lights and 26 different themed areas. Best of all, you can check it all out from the comfort of your car as you cruise the 2.5km route. Additional highlights include a picturesque outdoor skating rink and the ever-popular horse-drawn sleigh rides.
Big Fun Festival (January 23 – 27, 2019)
This annual 5 day festival is a must for music lovers as it showcases dozens of Manitoba’s best musical acts and covers almost every genre you can imagine. The action takes place across multiple venues throughout the city and includes both free and paid events, as well as a variety of options for both the 18+ and all-ages crowds.
Whether you are a master curler or just looking for a fun excuse to get outdoors this winter, you will love this event, which is held at The Forks each year and features a serious amount of curling, a beer garden, delicious food, a silent auction, and a huge range of prizes. Registration opens on December 1st, 2018 and money raised goes directly towards the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Wild Winter Canoe Race (February 16, 2019)
Looking for something different to do this winter? If so, you’ve found it, because this epic event is a winter activity like no other. It features teams of 5, often in highly impressive costumes, battling it out for a huge range of prizes as they propel their canoes across a snow-packed course. Admission is free for the fans, a massive Jumbotron Video Screen provides a clear view of all the action, while a heated bar, food court, and indoor washrooms make it easy to relax and get comfortable.
Festival du Voyageur (February 16 – 25, 2019)
If you haven’t been to this popular 10-day festival yet, break the drought this year, because it is guaranteed to be a huge highlight of your winter. It features live music, performance art, and an International Snow Sculpting Symposium, along with a Wood Carving Challenge, Fiddling and Jigging Contests, and even a Beard Growing Competition. You will also find no shortage of delicious food and tasty beverages to keep your mob warm and happy.
